⇾ The Virginia Bag sewing pattern is a downloadable sewing pattern which includes clear instructions with step-by-step photos to guide you from start to finish. You will receive .pdf files (A4, Letter and A0) and an SVG with info files.

⇾ Pattern pieces for all pieces (even rectangles) are included in the .pdf files. The SVG contains the zipper overlay pattern piece – useful if you prefer to cut non-fraying fabrics on a cutting machine.

⇾ Instructions are included for making the Virginia Bag in both in quilting cotton and in vinyl.

⇾ The pattern includes a step-by-step video tutorial for you to sew along to, with extra tips and hints for making your bags.

Fusible light/medium weight woven interfacing …

Pellon Shapeflex SF-101 2 yards (1.7m) OR Vlieseline G700 1 1/4 yards (1.2 m)

Fusible fleece e.g. Pellon Thermolam TP 971F – 1 yard (1 m) Fusible self adhesive foam OR Decovil light – 12″ x 5″ (30 cm x 13 cm)

Hardware

2 x rectanlgle rings 1″ (25 mm) 1 x magnetic snap #3 or #5 zip tape and pull – 12″ (30 cm) Swivel hook/lobster clasp – 1/2″ (13 mm) 4 Bag/Purse feet

Optional Supplies

Fusible/self adhesive foam OR Decovil I – 12″ x 5″ (30 cm x 13 cm) 8mm x 8mm rivets – 14. The post length will depend on the thickness of your exterior fabric, but 8mm post length works in most cases. Also, rivet setting tools.

Quilter’s double-sided tape or Wonder Tape (for quilting cotton)

Fray Stop or similar

If you are using vinyl you will need…

4 strap ends (optional with quilting cotton) – 1″ (25 mm)

14 rivets and rivet setting tools as above (optional with quilting cotton)
