Info: The Wednesday Weekly is the Scandinotions newsletter that goes out, you guessed it, every Wednesday. I love my subscribers and they get all the news first – always. Newsletters are published on my website 5 weeks after my subscribers receive them. Scroll down to read a previous one or sign up to get the next one.

This one might be difficult to hear…

We all have visions of the perfect Christmas, and sometimes we expect it – especially us crafty types, right? I used to be that person striving for the perfect gift wrapping, the perfect decoration, music, food…..

Nothing is better than perfect. At least that’s what I used to think – and I used to go to great lengths to achieve it. You might think that after becoming a parent, I wouldn’t have as much time to focus in on all the Christmas detail. It was actually the reverse for me – it became much more intensified.

At all costs, I needed to make the Christmas experience perfect for my kid and give her all the traditions and memories she would cherish through the lens of adulthood.

But I came to realise that I was oversaturated with the stress of it all – and the excess stress I couldn’t absorb was being projected onto the rest of the family. Not such a merry Christmas!

It wasn’t until then that I realized I had crossed the invisible line between organizing gifts and food for Christmas and becoming a producer and director of the Christmas period! I wasn’t having fun telling people to have fun! Something had to give, and at this point I asked those members of the family who I spend Christmas with what traditions and parts of Christmas were important to them. Seems like such an easy thing, but it was a revelation!

Nowadays, Christmas is a much more relaxed affair. Our focus is around gifts, food and games – all whilst simply hanging out together (in pyjamas if we want!). By keeping it simple and bypassing all the picture perfect ideas and notions of Christmas, I now have the done andperfect-for-us Christmas.

I hope a lot of you will already know your own secret to a happy and stress free Christmas time – and if you haven’t, I hope this will resonate with you and, who knows, maybe you feel a couple of knots popping out of your muscles already!

By keeping Christmas simple again this year, I have managed to clear some time for sewing up gifts, and I’m so happy I have! I’ve sewn three Fernweh train cases (Lavender & Twine), a Moonstone Handbag (Scandinotions), and I’m about to start sewing up some small pouches using my fabric stash. You can see them by visiting the group, where you are so so welcome to post pictures of your own Christmas makes. We’d love to see them! You can go to the group by clicking here. You will find all my Lives pinned to the Featured tab at the top of the group.

Elsewhere in the Scandinotions world…

The Moonstone Handbag pattern has been released and lots of new lovelies have subscribed to our Wednesday Weekly newsletter, which is beyond amazing and I thank you all for your support and wanting to be part of the Scandinotions community.

There are only two weeks to go until our New Year’s Eve get together. For those of you who haven’t yet heard, it will be a relaxed affair where we will be sewing our own projects and hanging out together online – because not everyone can, or wants to, party on NYE. Anyone who is a member of the FB group is welcome to join us. Please remember to go to the poll in the group and vote on what is the best time for you! You can get directly to the poll by clicking on this link. Look out for a post in the group with further details.

Also in the group, I have been going LIVE daily to share with you opening my bag making advent calendar. There have been some amazing things in there. There will also be two chances to win something from the box. If you want to be in with a chance of WINNING, all you need to do is watch live or on replay and leave a comment. That’s it! And a little bag making gift could be winging its way to you wherever you are in the world to make your January that little bit brighter! Click the green link at the end of the email to go to the group.

I hope you will have a smooth run up to the holidays. Take care of yourself, and have a happy, healthy and safe Christmas.
